Back to Education Initiative’s FETAC Awards Ceremony took place the 27th October 2011 in the Seven Oaks Hotel. At the event, 369 participants in total celebrated receiving certificates; 359 learners received their FETAC Certificates and 10 learners received the ECDL Certificate. The speakers on the night were; Denis Foley Chairperson of Co. Carlow VEC, Cynthia Deane CEO of Co. Carlow VEC, Marian Duffy AEO of Co. Carlow VEC and president of Aontas. 369 BTEI learners celebrated receiving their Certificates. The courses were completed with BTEI and in co-junction with other organisations. BTEI would like to thank all the VEC Staff and the agencies and voluntary groups they have worked in conjunction with, and to congratulate all 369 BTEI learners. BTEI is a Co. Carlow VEC initiative which offers part-time flexible educational opportunities for adults. All courses offered by BTEI are accredited.

Local Carlow Student Receives National Award D.J. Donohoe a student of Carlow’s Back To Education Initiative (BTEI) was awarded the Fetac Level 3 General Learning Certificate. He was selected by Fetac to be presented his award by President Mclease at the ‘One million Fetac award holders’ celebration. D.J. would “highly recommend” Return To Learning courses as they are “open to everyone and everyone can give it a go” D.J. found the course good for “socialising as well as learning and providing an occupation”. When D.J. was asked what he would say to other people in his position he said to “keep on trying” and that “it is not just a cert, it is proof of completion and going further, while not being pushed”. Staff and tutors of BTEI and STS would like to congratulate D.J. in achieving this major award and to let him know they are very proud of him in obtaining this fantastic achievement.
